PHOTONICS CONFERENCE) is a biennial conference, which was held this year at IISc Bengaluru on 5-8 July 2023, covering vast technical areas within the technical community.
The topical areas that were presented in the conference were:
- Optical Communication and Networks
- Quantum Optics and Photonics
- Non-linear and ultrafast photonics
- Nanophotonics
- Biophotonics and Bioimaging
- Photonic Integrated Circuits
- Fibers and Sensors
- Emerging Areas in Photonics: (THz Photonics, Structured Light/AOM-optics, 2d materials, Optomechanics, Topological photonics, AI/ML in Photonics)
- Novel Optical Materials and Fabrication Technique
- Optical Metrology and Instrumentation
- Optofluidics
- LASER and Applications
- Optoelectronics
My research domain is in the topical area of Novel Optical Materials and Fabrication Technique, wherein I presented my work on exploiting fluidic instabilities for fabrication of Gap-Plasmonic Nanostructures for flexible Mechanochromic sensing applications. I was awarded the best oral presentation award in this topical area
The conference was a wonderful opportunity to interact with leading researchers in their field. There were plenery talks, invited talks, and tutorial sessions which were not only quite informative and but also inspiring as well.
I got to know about the emerging topics and fields in the photonics domain. Moreover, it allowed me to know about the lifestyle and thinking processes of eminent speakers and researchers. Apart from scientific information, I also learnt about several creative presentation styles, innovating formatting and layout which I plan to incorporate in my future presentations.
To conclude, it was a great experience to communicate scientifically during the presentation, informally with fellow researchers from other institutes, and make new acquaintances.
